about
you know the hopetoun bridge in Auckland City? well, it was the next day, it was hot, i was hungover and walking back to my van (i've got one of those!) which was parked up in western springs. i might have mentioned it was hot, but i think it bears repeating, anyhoo' i shit you not, if that chorus didnt just go around and around and around in my head at the pace that i was walking, and when i got home i tracked the drums as soon as i walked through the door, and then layered it up with the rest of the song you hear today. i wish id just slept in the boot of the van that night, it would have saved me 2 years of emotional torture.
lyrics
as the sun beat down on hopetown, as the sun beat down:
if i only new then, what i know now, id walk on, and on.
as the sun beat down on hopetown
i still have last nights clothes on
and it may look like im struggling home
but it, feels like im floating
i think we might have left the van door open
but i dont think anything will have been stolen, it'l
it'l be a relife to see it waiting for me.
i walk on
as the sun beats down on hopetown. as the sun beats down:
(and on, and on, and on, and)
if i know then what i know now
and i wont break my stri-ide
even thou sometimes it seems like i'l have too.
and i smile as i glide on by.
a factory setting, with no fuckin feelings.
and the citys rhythem clicks back to the beginning
and cctv watches from the cealing
and the partys gives way to a pavement full of ordinary daytime people.
i walk on: on and on and on
as the sun beat down on hopetown
i make my way past hooker hotel.
as the sun beat down on hopetown, as the sun beat down.
i walk on (and on and on)
HOME.
